With the winter truly in full swing I bet your skin not doing so well. My clients at this time of the year are complaining of “dry” skin, well in the majority of the time people are suffering from dehydrated skin, this is where the skin is lacking water not lacking oil especially if your skin type is oily.. With the cold, snow, wind and rain all these factors attack the skin causing dehydration and sensitivity.. The main reason for dehydration is caused mainly from been in artificial heat which are radiators this absorb the moisture form the skin and causes dehydration this leaves skin limp and flaking.. And now add in the cold miserable cold wind and snow or rain this attacks the skin can cause broken capillaries redness and raw sensitivity..
So what do we do about this well first off do not use product for dry skin this product are oil based and if you put oil on oil then all thats going to happen is break outs and it will not help with itchiness or with flaking.. So what should you do, well for dehydration use a water based product this will not add oil to the skin and will not add other problems such as break outs. Products that are great for dehydration are serums or boosters or masks all of these will make your skin feel soft and supple make sure that the label has hydration on them that way you know it contains only water based ingredient.. Now for that redness and itchiness use a product for sensitive skin such as a barrier repair cream this will act like a second skin sitting on top of the skin protecting it from the harsh weather and preventing broken capillaries and helping to repair sensitivity that may already exists.
Dermalogica have a product called barrier repair, the product feels like velvet it sits on the skin acting like a second skin but it also soaks into the skin so it helps to rebuild damaged barrier that causes sensitivity such as itchiness and burning, my clients love this and it is an awesome product to deal with the winter ravages..
For the dehydration I love the hydration booster or the hydrating mask.. I will mix the booster with my moisturizer and if my skin is having a bad day I will put the hydrating mask and sleep with it, I am naturally oily and this never breaks me out..
